The training items
WHMIS 2015
Reading labels and Safety Data Sheets, pictograms and signal words. Product- and site-specific WHMIS is given at the site.
PEI worker rights and responsibilities
The right to know about hazards, to take part in health and safety, and to refuse unsafe work.
Site safety orientation
Farm roles take the farm orientation. Other client sites take general site safety plus a short add-on for construction, bakery, painting or cleaning work.
Forklift / machinery operator
For forklift and machinery roles, together with the operator certificate.
Food safety / GMP hygiene
For graders and packers.
Harassment and violence prevention
What is not accepted, how to report it, and confidentiality.
Incident reporting
Report every injury, near miss and hazard right away.
First aid
For designated first aiders: a current first aid certificate on file.
- Workers are asked to finish every item for their role before their first shift.
- Pass mark is 80%. Questions and answers are shuffled on every attempt, and after each attempt the worker sees the correct answers with a short explanation. Retakes are allowed right away.
- Every attempt is recorded with the date, time and score. Passed items renew every 12 months, with reminders before they are due.
- The office keeps a training matrix showing each worker's status for each item.
Every UnScramble employee completes their safety training in the app before starting work. When training is updated, employees are asked to complete the new version in the app.
On site
The site walk-through still happens at the site.
Site-specific parts, such as the products used, the farm walk-through and food safety rules, are given at the site by the supervisor.

Where a site needs its own orientation, it is recorded in the app before that worker clocks in there.

- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada is kept on file, with permit expiry dates tracked.
- Licences and certificates for the role (for example driver and forklift) are uploaded and tracked to their expiry dates.
- We remit HST, CPP, EI, and tax, and run payroll, scheduling and WCB.
